Tucked away behind the blast of colour from this summers display of Rudbeckia are Riversdales young fruit trees, They were planted in 2024 as part of of Breckland Council’s Community Orchard fund and are doing well despite this years hot, dry summer.
Breckland Council secured the funding from the Kings Coronation Living Heritage Fund. This nationwide initiative, supported by the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs, aims to reduce the effects of climate change by planting 130,000 trees across England. The trees at Riversdale include Apples and Pears, so hopefully in a few years we’ll be able to pick fresh fruit from the trees.
